ANDREW KUHARSKY - Director[photos - click here] Mr. Kuharsky is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School. He was an apprentice with the Joffrey Ballet in New York, a principal dancer with The Atlanta Ballet, and a soloist with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal. He has performed across Canada, the U.S., and in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Yugoslavia. He taught in or chaired the dance program of the S. C. Governor’s School for the Arts from 1984-1999, and directed the dance program at the School District of Greenville County’s Fine Arts Center from 1984-2002. He has taught at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and choreographs regularly for many regional companies. In 1984 he won an S. C. Arts Commission fellowship. Recently his work has been performed in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, Kentucky, Vermont, Texas, and Scotland. Mr. Kuharsky is a member of American MENSA.
MERRY KUHARSKY - Director[photos - click here] Mrs. Kuharsky was a principal dancer with The Atlanta Ballet and the Augusta Ballet in her native Georgia. With The Atlanta Ballet she danced leading roles across the United States including Alaska. She trained at the Augusta Ballet, and studied at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. She has taught at the Augusta Ballet School, the Atlanta School of Ballet, and the New Jersey School of Ballet. She served as Ballet Mistress for The Atlanta Ballet, and has staged works for The Atlanta Ballet, Augusta Ballet, Gainesville Ballet, and Burklyn Ballet Theatre. Mr. and Mrs. Kuharsky have two children and two grandchildren.
APRIL SCHAEFFER - Director, Greenville Jazz
April Schaeffer is a graduate of the Fine Arts Center of the School District of Greenville County and was a member of the Southeast Theatre Dance Company. Since 1998, she has been a principal dancer for the Greenville Little Theatre where she also acts regularly and works as a Production Assistant. April has been teaching dance in the upstate since 2004 and has produced award-winning choreography at many dance competitions throughout the southeast. In addition to performing as an Actor, Singer, and Dancer for several local theatres in the Upstate she also choreographs regularly. Her choreographic credits include "Peter Pan," "The Wizard of Oz," "Scrooge," "Honk," "Carousel," and several shows for the Upstate Shakespeare Festival. She also teaches for the South Carolina Children’s Theatre and is a member of the Laughing Stock Improv Group.
REBECCA LEE - Ballet, Modern
Rebecca Lee is a native of Greenville, where she received her dance training with the Greenville Ballet, the Greenville County Schools' Fine Arts Center, and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts. She received her B.F.A. in Dance, Performance, and Choreography from Columbia College and her M.F.A in Dance, Performance, and Choreography from Florida State University. She has been a company member with Dance Repertory Theatre in Tallahassee, FL, and a guest artist with Wildwood Ballet and the Power Company in Columbia, SC. She has also danced with Christian von Howard in the Von Howard Project and with the Garage Girls a Go-Go in New York City. She has taught for FSU Summer Dance Intensive, FSU non-major dance classes, Tallahassee Ballet, Pas de Vie Ballet Company, Ballet Spartanburg, and Broadway South. She has also choreographed for Converse College, Columbia College, Ballet Spartanburg, Tallahassee Ballet and the Fine Arts Center. She currently teaches for the after-school A.R.M.E.S. program at the Greenville County Schools' Fine Arts Center.
MICHELLE MALONE - Tap, Greenville Jazz
Michelle Malone began her dance training at Gotta Dance Studios in Seville, Ohio under Francine LeRoy. She began dancing competitively at age 12 and has won awards at regional and national levels competing in Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She has had master classes from such notable teachers as Gus Giordano, Gary Pate and Joe Tremaine. She was a member of the Tour de Force Entertainment Company, dancing in shows and Festivals across Italy in 1992. After moving to SC, Michelle performed with the Greenville Spinners Basketball dance team. At USC she was a member of the dance company under Susan Anderson and studied under local dancers and choreographers Cindy Flack, Lemuel Pitts, and Jeffrey Johnson. She also performed in the Lexington Community Theater's production of Gypsy. She recently participated in Tapology tap festival in Flint, Michigan, an intensive tap workshop featuring talented tappers such as Diane Walker, Jason Samuels Smith and Derrick Grant. Michelle has a Bachelors degree in Psychology.
